Our Therapies & Modalities
We offer both individual therapy and group therapy and some therapists offer family therapy and couples therapy. With an inclusive, non-judgemental, and trauma informed approach, we offer a variety of therapy modalities including:
-
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a rapid, effective approach aimed to support individuals in resolving trauma and emotional distress. Using guided imagery and eye movement techniques, ART helps reprocess difficult memories, reducing their emotional impact and fostering a sense of relief.
ART is a powerful, non-invasive approach that offers a compassionate and efficient path to emotional healing.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. By understanding how thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected, we can learn to replace unhelpful thinking with more balanced, realistic perspectives.
CBT is highly effective for treating anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health challenges, empowering individuals to develop healthier coping strategies and improve their emotional well-being.
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop coping skills. DBT focuses on balancing acceptance with change, teaching skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
It is particularly effective for individuals struggling with borderline personality disorder, self-harm, and emotional dysregulation, helping them build resilience and healthier ways to navigate challenging situations.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on understanding and healing the various parts of the self. According to IFS, we all have different "parts" (like the inner critic, wounded child, or protector) that influence our thoughts and behaviors. Through IFS, clients learn to recognize, understand, and harmonize these parts, fostering greater self-awareness, compassion, and emotional balance.
This approach is effective for resolving inner conflicts, healing past wounds, and improving overall mental well-being.
-
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-centered therapeutic approach designed to help individuals heal from trauma. Focusing on the connection between the body and mind, SE allows individuals to release stored tension and trauma that may be affecting their physical and emotional well-being. Through gentle awareness and guided techniques, individuals can process and resolve trauma, restore a sense of safety, and promote relaxation and balance within the body.
This approach is especially effective for those who have experienced chronic stress or trauma.
-
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an auditory intervention designed to improve emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and enhance social engagement. It uses specially designed music to stimulate the nervous system, helping individuals feel calmer and more connected. The SSP is particularly effective for those dealing with trauma, stress, and sensory sensitivities, offering a gentle way to promote safety and resilience.
Through this protocol, individuals can experience improved emotional balance and greater ease in social interactions.
-
Polyvagal Therapy is based on the understanding of the nervous system's role in emotional regulation and trauma. It focuses on the vagus nerve, which influences our sense of safety and stress response. By helping clients regulate their nervous system through specific techniques, this therapy promotes relaxation, resilience, and emotional balance.
Polyvagal Therapy is particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress, as it helps individuals reconnect with their body's natural ability to feel safe and calm.
-
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) designed to help individuals overcome anxiety, particularly related to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It involves gradually exposing clients to feared situations or thoughts in a controlled way while preventing the usual compulsive responses. This process helps reduce anxiety over time and develops healthier coping mechanisms.
ERP is highly effective in helping individuals face their fears and break the cycle of anxiety and avoidance.
-
Gottman Level 1 Therapy is an evidence-based approach designed to help couples strengthen their relationships. This method focuses on enhancing communication, building trust, and managing conflict in a healthy way. It provides couples with practical tools and strategies to improve emotional connection, understand each other's needs, and foster a more supportive and resilient relationship.
Ideal for couples looking to strengthen their bond or address specific relationship challenges.
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapeutic approach that encourages individuals to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than avoiding or battling them. It focuses on increasing psychological flexibility by helping clients accept difficult emotions, clarify their values, and commit to actions that align with those values.
ACT is effective for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges, fostering a more meaningful and fulfilling life by focusing on the present moment and personal growth.
-
Art Therapy is a creative approach that uses the process of making art to help individuals express emotions, explore personal issues, and promote healing. Through drawing, painting, or other artistic methods, individuals can gain insights into their thoughts and feelings, making it particularly beneficial for those who find it difficult to express themselves with words.
Art therapy is effective for reducing stress, processing trauma, and improving emotional well-being, offering a non-verbal way to promote self-awareness and personal growth.
GROUP THERAPY
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills group is a 16 week group focusing on mindfulness skills, distress tolerance skills, emotion regulation skills, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. Our skills group is a trauma informed group which has a unique addition of learning about how trauma affects our ability to regulate our emotions. We recognize that skills are coping tools to help treat symptoms of trauma and that trauma work is often recommended for those people applying the skills and still struggling.

Everyone! If you find that you are struggling to cope; whether it is your anger climbing from 0-60, have difficulty making decisions, difficulty with setting boundaries or pushing people away. If you are lacking a sense of identity and doing everything that everyone else wants you to do at the cost of yourself, using substances to cope, struggling with self harm, feeling empty, or so busy that you never get time for yourself, this group is for you.
-
A Skills Group is like taking a course where you learn new coping tools and get to practice the skills each week. There is a skills practice check in where you reflect on how the skills helped you, or how it might have been challenging; and share your experience with the group. DBT therapy was founded by Marsha Linehan who actually struggled with her own mental health and went on to develop this framework to help people who are struggling in a similar way.
